Dr. Christopher Naugler appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education

Appointment to take effect on July 1, 2019

The Cumming School of Medicine (CSM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Christopher Naugler, MD, as Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UME). The appointment will take effect on July 1, 2019.

Chris takes over for Dr. Sylvain Coderre, MD, who guided UME to full accreditation in 2016 and was instrumental in helping improve the Medical Council of Canada licensing exam scores of our students over the past five years. CSM students achieved an impressive 99 per cent pass rate on the licensing exam in 2018 compared to a national pass rate of 95 per cent.

Chris is a professor and department head in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and medical director of Alberta Public Laboratories, South Sector (formerly Calgary Laboratory Services). He holds cross-appointments in the departments of Family Medicine and Community Health Sciences and is a member of the O’Brien Institute for Public Health and Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute.
