Dr. Fiona Schulte

Congratulations to Dr. Fiona Schulte who has received the Canadian Cancer Society 2023 William E. Rawls Prize!

Dr. Schulte is a researcher and global leader in psychosocial oncology who specializes in improving the cancer experience for children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and their families, including advocating for the mental health needs of these young people. A leader in many spheres of cancer research worldwide, she has held significant leadership roles locally, nationally and internationally, including with the World Health Organization Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, as president of the Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (2019-2021), and as chair of the psychosocial task force for the Children's Oncology Group Long-term Follow-up Guidelines.

"To be selected as the recipient of the Canadian Cancer Society 2023 William E. Rawls prize is probably one of the greatest achievements of my career thus far," says Dr. Schulte. "This honour acknowledges my contributions to cancer research both nationally and internationally. More importantly, however, it recognizes the critical importance of research dedicated to pediatric, adolescent and young adult cancer survivorship. This award will support my continued efforts to advocate for these young survivors.”
