2025 Annual Report
We are pleased to share the 2025 Report to the Community on Cancer Research in Calgary and Southern Alberta, a joint report by the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre, and Cancer Care Alberta. We acknowledge the contributions of academic departments, core facilities, health system research infrastructure, community and scientific advisors, and the donor community in the collective success of our cancer research community.
This report looks back on a pivotal year in our community — one marked by the transformation of cancer care in Calgary through the full alignment of research, clinical care, and patient support. With the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre now open and the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute working side by side with clinicians and research operations across Cancer Care Alberta, we are seeing a shared vision take shape: turning scientific discovery into meaningful benefit for patients today and into the future.
Collaboration remains the heart of our progress. We are uniting world-class research, integrated clinical trial capacity, and state-of-the-art infrastructure to fuel innovation, accelerate discovery, and translate breakthroughs from lab bench to bedside. This approach ensures that new diagnostics, therapies, survivorship strategies, and supportive-care innovations are evaluated and delivered with both scientific rigour and deep compassion. Our progress reflects the dedication of our clinical, research, and operational teams, whose collective efforts continue to improve outcomes and renew hope for patients and families across Southern Alberta and beyond. Within this report, you’ll discover inspiring examples of this momentum and how, together, we are shaping a brighter future.
