Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research

Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research (CEPR) is a dynamic and active research department within CancerControl Alberta of Alberta Health Services.

Background

Epidemiology is the study of the distribution and determinants of disease in a population. Epidemiologic information is used to plan and evaluate strategies to prevent illnesses, and as a guide to the management of patients in whom disease has already developed.

Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research (CEPR) is a dynamic and active research department within CancerControl Alberta of Alberta Health Services. We are comprised of five Research Scientists and their respective teams, as well as a core research unit, which provides MSc-trained epidemiologists, statisticians, and support staff for human resources, data and IT support, and grant administration. The core support unit allows our Scientists to focus their efforts on their research programs, thus increasing their peer-reviewed grant success.
