Our Impact

Nearly half of all Canadians will face a cancer diagnosis. Thanks to advancements in research, we know that 40% of all cancer cases are preventable through lifestyle changes and reduced exposure.

Our researchers are uniquely positioned to harness data to investigate causes of cancer on a personal level through advanced cancer prevention and screening.

CanDoR is a group of researchers, scientists and clinicians working as a team to decrease the burden of cancer in the population. Led by Dr. Darren Brenner, a cancer epidemiologist, it is transdisciplinary work with nation-wide and international collaborations. Outcomes have already produced a number of peer-reviewed publications, as well as the creation of an online dashboard that shows projected estimates of cancer incidence and mortality across population groups and geographic regions.

We’re finding ways to measure health with wearable technology and online health-tracking tools. We’re developing new methods to amass and analyze personal health data, explore new ways to communicate to high-risk groups. And we’re designing personalized cancer screening and surveillance to track where cancer’s most likely to appear.
