Dr. Nizar Bahlis Awarded the Arthur J.E. Child Professorship in Precision Cancer Medicine

We are excited to announce that Dr. Nizar Bahlis has been named the inaugural holder of the Arthur J.E. Child Professorship in Precision Cancer Medicine. The newly created professorship will support advanced research in precision oncology, genomics and targeted therapies, building on the growing strength of cancer research at the University of Calgary and the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre. 

A leader in precision oncology, Dr. Bahlis brings a strong record of research excellence to the role. Through this professorship, he will advance innovative research aimed at better understanding cancer and developing more precise, targeted approaches to treatment. As a core focus of the Arnie Charbonneau Cancer Institute, this professorship will also help build and sustain a high-impact, collaborative research program that attracts national peer-reviewed funding and brings together expertise from across disciplines. It will support opportunities to attract and mentor trainees and faculty interested in precision cancer medicine, while building on existing expertise, resources, and infrastructure. By strengthening connections across research disciplines and institutions, the professorship will help accelerate discovery and advance the future of precision cancer medicine in Calgary and beyond.
